A Perfect Sunday at The Greenroom: Roasts, Rose and Relaxation

Sundays are for indulgence, taking a break from the week’s hustle and bustle to savour moments of pure enjoyment. And what better way for a Brit than treating yourself to a sumptuous Sunday roast? This past Sunday, my sister Kirsty and I embarked on a culinary adventure at Greenroom, a hidden gem next to The Els Club in Sports City.

As we stepped into Greenroom, we were immediately drawn to its inviting atmosphere; a perfect blend of cozy charm and modern elegance. You can choose to sit inside or outside. Given it was around 40°C that day, we opted to sit inside. Had we been using the Greenroom pool, we would have chosen to sit outside.

There are several roast options on the menu – vegetarian, beef striploin, lamb leg and chicken and for only AED140, you get a roast plus two house drinks. There’s also a kids’ option for just AED70.

I opted for the vegetarian option (I know, before you all start) but the veggie nut loaf at Greenroom is really good! Since I’m quite fussy about eating only well-done meat, I usually go for the easiest option. The vegetarian roast is a delicious medley of nut loaf, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, stuffing ball, carrot, green beans, parsnip, sauerkraut, gravy and a large yorkie! For those who don’t know, a yorkie is a Yorkshire pudding, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour.

Meanwhile, Kirsty, a fan of classic beef roasts, chose the beef option, which she absolutely loves at Greenroom. The beef striploin comes with the same trimmings as the vegetarian option.

Embarrassingly, neither of us could clear our plates – we were absolutely stuffed! We both enjoyed two glasses of rosé to accompany our meal.

However, there’s never enough gravy for Kirsty and me, so we had to order two additional small bowls. Disappointingly, you only get one stuffing ball, which is a bit gutting since we love stuffing. We asked for another one each but the server advised that we would need to pay extra, so we didn’t bother.

The Greenroom isn’t limited to dining. It also boasts an array of amenities, including a swimming pool with a swim-up bar, outdoor seating area, arcade room and a golf simulator, making it a great day out for the whole family.

If you’re craving a Sunday roast with a side of relaxation, look no further than Greenroom. Whether you prefer a vegetarian or meat option, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. It’s the perfect destination for a Sunday roast and the quality is always good – you definitely won’t be disappointed with the food.
