24 Hours in Dhërmi — A Glimpse of Albania’s Riviera

After a few days in the Albanian mountains, we headed to Dhërmi for a quick stop by the coast. It’s a small seaside village on the Albanian Riviera with clear blue water, a pebbled beach and a relaxed, easy-going feel.

The beachfront has plenty of beach bars and restaurants and a few small alcoves along the shore where you can swim or sit by the water. Many people take a boat trip to the Blue Gem Caves, which are close by and known for their bright turquoise water.

Aside from that, there isn’t much to do here, which is part of its charm. It’s the kind of place that works well for a short, quiet break.

In the evening, we went to The Yacht Club for drinks, which had a stunning view over the beach. Afterwards, we walked along the front, stopping in at one of the Italian restaurants for dinner. The area has a lively but laid-back atmosphere, with music coming from the beach bars and people sitting out late by the water.

We stayed one night, which felt like enough for us since we’re more into active, sightseeing-style trips. Dhërmi is easy to enjoy for its scenery and calm setting and while it was a short stop for us, it’s the kind of place many people could happily spend a few slow days by the sea. If you prefer quiet beach time, good food and a relaxed coastal atmosphere, it’s a lovely stop along the Albanian Riviera.
