Pool Views from Kerculla Resort, Gjirokastër

While we were in Gjirokastër, we went up to Kerculla Resort one morning for breakfast and to check out the views. The resort sits high above the town and the view from up there is insane. You can see the whole city and the mountains in the distance.

The Hotel

Kerculla Resort is a modern hotel with a touch of that traditional Gjirokastër stone house look. It has a restaurant, a big pool area and rooms that overlook the valley. It’s about a five minute drive from the old town and the road up is steep but once you get there, it’s worth it.

The Breakfast

Breakfast was €15 per person and it was pretty average. A few basics like eggs, pastries, cheese, cold cuts and fruit but the quality wasn’t great. We wouldn’t go back for the breakfast again.

Sorry for the quality of the breakfast buffet photos, I didn’t take any pictures so I grabbed screenshots from a video instead.

The Setting

Since it was mid summer and really hot, the terrace was fully covered with portable air conditioning units inside to keep things cool. We didn’t sit completely outside but it was still comfortable and the views were amazing.

The Pool

There are two pools, a larger one on the main level and a smaller one on a terrace above it. There are sunbeds next to the main pool and under the terrace pool, with tables, chairs and bean bags on the upper terrace level.

The pools and pool views were amazing; probably one of the best views in Gjirokastër. They offer daily pool access and if we went back, that’s definitely what we’d do. It looked like the perfect spot to relax, swim and just take in the scenery.

Final Thoughts

The breakfast wasn’t great but the views made it worth the trip up. Next time, we’ll skip breakfast and spend the day by the pool instead.
