On Friday, my sister Kirsty and I decided to escape the hustle and bustle of Dubai for a relaxing beach day at Lumi Beach in Umm Al Quwain, one of the lesser-known Emirates in the UAE. Having recently been in Oman, we were eager to find a spot that would evoke those same feelings of peace and tranquillity. What amazed us was that the drive was just a quick 50 minutes from our house, making it a perfect day trip destination.
Lumi Beach is nestled within the Umm Al Quwain Beach Hotel. Upon arrival, we paid a reasonable AED100 entry fee at the hotel reception, which was fully redeemable on food and beverages; a fantastic deal for a day of relaxation.
From there, it was a short and pleasant walk around the back of the hotel reception building, through the gardens and pool area and voila, we were greeted by the stunning boho vibes of Lumi Beach.

We arrived around 11 am, still early enough to find the beach relatively quiet and have our pick of the perfect spot for the day. The gentle breeze from the sea kept the temperature just right, making it ideal for lounging, reading a book and taking refreshing dips in the sea.

One of the highlights of our day was the reasonably priced and delicious food and beverages available. We savoured an amazing lunch: Cajun chicken for me and a shrimp Caesar salad for Kirsty, perfectly complemented by the serene ambiance and chill background music playing throughout the day.
As the afternoon progressed, a DJ took over at 4 pm, switching to more upbeat tunes, adding to the lively yet relaxed atmosphere. I couldn’t resist swinging on the giant swing by the sea for a solid 20 minutes, enjoying the golden hour and people-watching. Later, I settled into a hammock to continue soaking in the tranquil vibes and breath-taking views.

Our day at Lumi Beach was a delightful escape, offering us a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of Dubai. We left feeling rejuvenated and already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a serene beach getaway not too far from Dubai, Lumi Beach in Umm Al Quwain is a definite must-visit!
